This collection of essays, stories, photos and articles are on any range of topics which may at some point become of interest to the author. That range of topics may include just about anything under the sun, but the main candidates are likely to be history, genealogy, national parks and environmental interests, global travel and the subject of writing itself.
There's no guarantee what may be found among these pages, but hopefully there'll be some subsection of subjects which appeal!
It's a question shared by many people around the world. I chose to answer it by learning more about my ancestors- who they were, where they came from, and why they migrated to America.
I searched online and found unexpected results- immigrants from Sweden, Wales, Ireland, Italy, France, Scotland, England, the Netherlands, Denmark and Norway.
I always knew I was a mutt- like a lot of Americans, my ancestors come from a variety of backgrounds and immigrated for many different reasons. I got caught up in learning their stories, and now I hope to tell them.
My family is spread across the country and the world, and by the time I was ten and we were flying to Brazil, I'd been on more plane flights than I could remember. I flew with my family to Brazil, Hawaii, Mexico, California and Colorado. We took our camper and explored New England in the summer.
Then one summer I got the opportunity to work in Yellowstone National Park. I drove out there, taking two weeks to see the sights of the country. I discovered the joys of traveling alone. Since then, I have made numerous trips alone, including a semester in Europe and a year traveling Australia.
Fiction, nonfiction, articles, novels, short stories, historical, environmental, memoir...
Writing is catharsis and nearly everything I think about, I write about.
My current main work in progress is an historical fiction novel on the sailing of the Mayflower and the first few years of settlement in New England at Plymouth, Massachusetts. I am hoping it will be the first in a series of novels on immigrant ancestors who all had to travel at different times and for different reasons in order for Americans to be the mutts some of us are today.
She's a two year old Labrador Retriever and I adore her.
She'll pop up from time to time.
